An Update on Costs & Financial Assistance

Events in NCNC-UCC are now budgeted on a self-sustaining basis and are not supported from the annual Conference operating budget. This means the registration fee reflects the true cost to hold the event based on the projected (contracted) number of participants.

It is presumed that ministers will first seek to access funds available from their employing ministry setting for professional and continuing development to offset their cost of attendance. Then, ministers should ask their Association if there are any grant programs available to apply to for financial assistance.

If both of the above have been exhausted, ministers may then ask the Conference Minister for a grant to cover:

  • Up to one-third of the cost of attendance if the clergyperson is employed (in any capacity), or
  • Up to two-thirds of the cost of attendance if the clergyperson is unemployed.

In no event will the grant cover the cost of a non-clergy partner’s cost, or optional costs to extend time at the hotel. Your request will only be considered if you can certify you have first made requests of your employing ministry setting and Association, as applicable. Email Daniel Ross-Jones to request a grant and receive a coupon code to apply toward your registration.

Additional Frequently Answered Questions

  • Contract requirements prohibit “commuter” registrations except when the minister lives directly in Seaside, Marina, or Monterey. If this applies to you, contact Daniel directly to request a discount code for a commuter registration.
  • Registration is for the entire event. Participants who cannot or choose not to participate in the entire event (fewer days, selected programs, etc) do not receive a pro rated refund.
