Rev. Dr. Fields is a transplant to the Bay Area from Philadelphia. As she says, “I have found my home here in California. I can’t imagine ever leaving because all of my dreams are coming true in this place.” Her commitment is so sure that she left her family, including three grandchildren, to pursue a new life in the Bay Area.

She received her master’s in divinity in 2013 and her doctorate in ministry in 2021 from Lancaster Theological Seminary (LTS) in Pennsylvania. Rev. Dr. Fields’ dissertation was, Black Pastor, White Church: Using Applied Positive Psychology as a Mission Driven Strategy to Build and Sustain Multicultural Congregations. Her master’s in divinity focused through the lens of the Holocaust, preaching, and teaching the Hebrew Bible responsibly. Rev. Dr. Fields received the Rhoades Award for Bible Interpretation of the Hebrew Bible in 2012.

She has a certificate in Applied Positive Psychology, training in transitional ministry, and appreciative inquiry. She trained as a coach with Rev. Dr. Claire Bamberg, Coaching 4 Clergy. Pastor Celeste is in the process of completing the requirements for a Level One Coaching License with The International Federation of Coaches. She has been an ordained minister in the UCC since November 10, 2013.

Rev. Dr. Fields has been serving as the Associate Conference Minister (ACM) since February 2023. In her role as ACM, Pastor Celestine is responsible to the Bay, Sequoia, and Mountain Valley Associations. She coordinates Life Long Learning opportunities for authorized ministers, as well as co-facilitating Rev. Da Vita D. McCallister’s TARASC Inclusivity Spectrum racial justice training. Rev. Dr. Fields enjoys supporting the coaching and communities of practice programs of the conference. She loves and enjoys her work in the conference and says, “I can’t believe I get paid to do this work.”

In her free time, she is a wellness and recovery coach, with a focus on trauma, helping others who live with compulsive eating behaviors reach their weight loss goals. She has given away close to 130lbs and keeps it off one day at a time. Currently Rev. Dr. Fields is pursuing credentials to become a Certified Trauma Professional. She enjoys writing, podcasting, lifting weights at the gym, rucking, hiking, biking, being in and around water, and basking in the sun. She ran a 5K, her first, in July 2022.
